Do We Need All These New Social Media Applications?

With the number of social media users doubling every year, does it seem like we need all of these new applications? This article will address these questions and more. Snapchat is a highly visual social network where users can send and receive snaps of photos and videos and update their 24-hour Statuses. In Q1 2022, Snapchat had 332 million daily active users. Pinterest is a virtual scrapbooking website where users can create boards with images, products, and other images. In addition, brands can create Shoppable Pins where users can buy products directly from the image they pinned. According to Pinterest, there are 240 billion pins created by users. This number grows every month.

VKontakte is the Russian equivalent of Facebook. The social network allows users to upload and view videos, comment on them, and interact with their followers. VKontakte currently has over 2.5 billion monthly active users and its users spend an average of 23.2 hours per month using the YouTube app. Another similar social media application is Mix. It is a web-based service that lets users curate content from all over the web. It also has free and paid options. Users can post comments, likes, and more.
